I am from the cracks growing up brown walls and the thirst that cries from yellow grass.
I am from old cars that don’t work and clubhouses with wasps nests that sing all night.
I am from screams on the porch at midnight after family parties downtown.
I am from a home where avocado trees and cousins make a good game of hide-n-seek.
I am from a home where America meets Mexico in the eyes of the first dreamers.
I am from a home where broken glass cuts deep and makes a stained window.
I am from a family that doesn’t talk until we scream.
I am from a family that is trying to catch up with how many mouths we have to feed.
I am from a family that basks in sunlight and drowns in rain.
I am from a place where the roaring waves and the sun clean and fill, give and take.
I am from a place where everything means something and nothing means anything.
I am from a place where people grow faster than leaves but slower than trees.
I am from my mother and my father and my sisters and my brother.
I am from trying to make the world a better place, because if we don’t, who will?
I am from the dreamers, from the workers, from the artists and the scribes.
And I am from love and hope, and the first time seeing fireflies.
Hi guys! Thanks so much for reading my blog post!
I wrote this lil thing a few weeks ago for an assignment in Lang and was really proud of it. Since I haven’t had a musical peak my interest this week, I decided to share my “poem” with all of you. I hope you like it as much as I did!
As usual, like and comment if you please, I’d love to learn about you and your thoughts on my writing or my blog so far! If you have any thoughts on this post or have any suggestions for what you’d like to see from me in the future, please let me know! I’d love to hear from you all!
Thank you all so much, and I’ll write you all on Wednesday!
